Day 2 — Treat inside, door open. First paw on the surface = “yes!” and reward.
Day 3 — Door closed. Wait for 2–3 scratches, then open. Add a few more each session.

Will my dog actually use it?

Is the filing surface safe for paw pads?
Yes. The surface files nails gradually while the pads glide over it, and your dog controls the pressure. Keep sessions to 5–10 minutes.
How long until I see shorter nails?
Blunted tips in 1–2 weeks; visibly shorter nails by about day 21 with a few 5-minute sessions a week. Badly overgrown nails take longer as the quick recedes.
How often do I replace the filing pad?
Every 4–8 weeks with regular use. When it feels smooth, peel off the old sheet and press on a new pad. Replacement pads are sold on this page.
Does it work for big dogs, puppies, and seniors?
Yes — small to large breeds. Puppies learn fastest; seniors benefit most, since long nails strain wrists and hips and cause slipping on hard floors. For strong scratchers, brace the board against your leg or a wall.
